Rainbow Sensory Fun!

·

I have gotten so much positive feedback from my other monthly sensory activities that I have decided to keep it going! For the month of March I am sharing several rainbow sensory fun activities that can be done at home or at school!

WHY INCORPORATE PINK SENSORY FUN IN THE CLASSROOM?

I have several blog posts addressing the benefits of sensory play in the classroom. To read more about sensory needs in the classroom, click HERE. I also have information on sensory play HEREas well as sensory diets HERE. I also have some free sensory materials in my Free Resource Library.

Today, I am sharing five rainbow sensory fun activities!

  • Rainbow Sensory Bottle
  • Soap Bubbles- Rainbow
  • Rainbow Rice
  • Sensory Bag- Rainbow edition
  • Rainbow Play doh

Rainbow Sensory Bottle

Sensory bottles are always a mess free option for sensory fun. This rainbow sensory bottle was SUPER easy to make! I used water beads and a recycled water bottle. I sorted the water beads by color in separate bowls before I soaked them in water. Once they soaked over night I just poured them in the bottle color by color. I added some water and baby oil once done and VOILA! I’m sure over time the colors will slowly mix but they are OH SO PRETTY to look at!

Rainbow Soap Bubbles

Soap bubbles is a fun and MESSY activity. This could be perfect for a fun Friday special!

Rainbow Rice

Sensory bins are a great way to incorporate sensory play in the classroom. You can also integrate learning by having students search for letters, numbers or vocabulary words in the rice. The options are endless!

Rainbow rice is always a hit! It can be time consuming to make, but once you make a full batch it can last you all year! It’s actually a great task you can ask parent volunteers to make and donate to your classroom. I have this free handout in my Free Resource Library. I have all of these sensory supplies listed in my amazon shop HERE.

Rainbow Sensory Bag

I love myself some CLEAN sensory activities. If it’s contained, I am all about it! This simple activity is just needs all the things you already have in your classroom! Stick a piece of paper inside of a freezer size ziplock bag. Add a dollop each color of paint inside the bag and seal it!

Once it is sealed, let the kiddos go to town with it! Students can move the paint all around to see what they create. Tucker was ALL into making “lines” with the paint! By the end he was making “bubbles.” This entertained him for about 45 minutes and there was ZERO mess!

You can incorporate writing, colors, letters, listening and following direction activities with this mess free sensory bag. Ask students to write their name, draw shapes, copy sight words etc. The possibilities are endless!

Rainbow Playdoh

Play doh is a GREAT sensory activity. You can make a batch of the rainbow colors and they can last you all year long. I make play doh following this simple recipe from Living Well Mom. It turns out perfect EVERY time! You can encourage color mixing for rainbow sensory fun! (I know, the people like me will CRINGE at the thought of mixing play doh colors, but it WILL be okay!)

I hope you enjoy these rainbow sensory fun activity ideas for your home or classroom! Please let me know if you try any of these activities and what other activities you will be doing this month!
